The Power of Not Knowing

Today, Wednesday, April 1st, we have a Full Moon at 12 degrees Libra, exact at 7:11 p.m. Pacific time. And the themes it's stirring up are fitting for this moment: balance, justice, fairness, and accountability. Not as abstract ideals, but as living, evolving questions. What does justice actually look like? What does real accountability feel like? What would genuine fairness mean — for you, for your community, for the world?

The Fool's Gift: Beginner's Mind

There's something poetic about this full moon landing on April Fool's Day. Because the energy we're collectively stepping into right now — Aries energy — is very much the energy of the Fool. Not foolishness in the embarrassing sense, but in the tarot sense: that wide-eyed, brand-new-beginning, anything-is-possible sense. Beginner's mind. The kind of openness that comes when you genuinely don't know how something works yet, and that not-knowing is actually a gift.

When we step into brand-new beginnings, one of their defining features is that we haven't figured it all out yet. And this Full Moon is asking us to sit with that — to let our ideas about balance, fairness, and justice evolve rather than calcify.

Saturn Meets Neptune in Aries

To understand why this moment feels significant, it helps to zoom out a little. Two of the slowest-moving planets in our solar system — Saturn and Neptune — are both now in Aries, and they reached an exact conjunction on February 20th. (They also came very close in Aries last year, so this is a theme that's been building for a while.)

Think of a conjunction as two planets merging — their energies becoming inseparable, speaking the same language for a time, leaving an imprint on one another before slowly beginning to separate again. That's exactly where we are now: in the early aftermath of that merging, beginning to understand what it means.

So what does it mean when Saturn — the planet of hard reality, structures, systems, limits, and foundations — merges with Neptune — the planet of dreams, infinite possibility, dissolution, spiritual connection, and transcendence? We're finding out. And we're finding out in Aries, which means we're finding out with the energy of the beginner, the initiator, the one who doesn't yet know the rules.

It's a little like being handed a newborn. You're filled with wonder. You can feel the enormous potential. And you have absolutely no idea who this person is going to become.

The Pisces Undercurrent

There's one more piece worth mentioning: Mars, the ruler of Aries, is still in Pisces until April 9th. So even as we're launching into this bold, initiatory Aries energy, there's still a Pisces undercurrent — fluid, flowing, a little uncertain about which direction to move. It's the background hum of not quite knowing, of feeling the pull between the old and the new.

That's actually okay. That's part of the process.

What Libra Is Reflecting Back to Us

With the Sun in Aries and the Moon full in Libra, we have a beautiful mirror dynamic at play. Aries initiates; Libra reflects. Aries acts; Libra asks how that action lands in relationship — in partnership, in community, in the wider world.

Libra asks: How do we do this together? How do people with different beliefs and values find common ground? How do we navigate conflict, solve problems, and create systems that actually work for everyone?

This full moon is shining a light on those questions at every scale — from your personal daily routines and self-care practices, to the global systems we've built and inherited.

The Power of Not Knowing

Here's what I keep coming back to: right now, the power lies in the not knowing.

When you release the grip of thinking you already have the answers — when you let that certainty dissolve (very Pisces, very Neptune) — you create space for something new to emerge. Something you couldn't have imagined before, because it hasn't existed yet.

Just like with a newborn: you can't predict who they'll become. You can only offer love, nourishment, and the conditions for growth. The same is true for the new ideas, new possibilities, and new ways of relating that are trying to be born right now.

Imagining a More Just World

This is the invitation of this Libra Full Moon: to genuinely imagine what fairness, balance, and justice could look like if we built them from scratch. Not just how we enforce the rules within existing systems, but how we redesign those systems to be more fair, more healing, more sustainable — more aligned with who we're becoming.

Many of our current justice systems were built on punitive frameworks that prioritize punishment over healing. What would it look like to build something different? Something that actually worked — for you, for your neighbors, for the greater good?

What would a world where peace felt truly possible look like? Not a distant aspiration we're always struggling toward, but something we could actually create?

That's going to take imagination. Neptune in Aries imagination.
